THE NEW LUXURY: ROOFTOP GARDENS
Where super-density reigns, cities have to get creative. Rooftops are all fair game when it comes to giving city dwellers a place to relax. So green is getting up, with city residents transforming adjoining blank rooftops into a sprawling green oasis.
Leon is an outdoor person and quite fond of his amazing rooftop garden in Brussels, which he refers to as an important extension of his home. “When I come home after a long day at the office, all I want to do is to relax in my garden. Having a glass of wine and reading a book, while the wind is blowing through my hair. That’s when I feel blessed and truly feel like I am on top of the world. While cars are hooting and people are walking downstairs, I am upstairs, watching the sunset from my comfortable seat”, he says.
To enjoy his wonderful urban prairie to the fullest, Leon chose the Tribù Branch furniture set. “When I have friends over, I add extra chairs that I conveniently stack inside the shed on the roof. This way we can all have an aperitif outside and enjoy the marvellous view, before heading back inside later on.”
All year round Leon leaves his design outdoor furniture on the terrace. Even during winter season he loves to get outside and enjoy the various plants around him. When it’s too cold for his guests, he simply turns on the outdoor heaters. “There’s not a day that goes by without me overlooking the city from my rooftop garden. I love this outdoor feeling, no matter which season it is”, says Leon, a smart city dweller looking skyward for the required room to relax and to breathe.
